App to Switch Accounts on Claude Code
I currently split my workflow about evenly between Claude and Codex, paying $20 a month for each. Claude’s current model lineup looks more versatile to me, but both platforms jump from $20 to $100 a month, with no middle ground. Two Claude accounts could fill that gap, provided switching between them is manageable.
claude-swap, or cswap, is an open source utility for macOS, Linux, and Windows that switches accounts in Claude Code’s CLI and VS Code extension. You can switch manually or let it rotate accounts as one approaches its limit, with an optional menu bar on macOS.
You could manually log into a secondary account through web authentication, but cswap saves repeating that process every time you switch. Conversation history stays separate by default in its parallel-session mode, with optional sharing on supported platforms. Anthropic allows up to three accounts to be verified with one phone number, which is consistent with my understanding that it does not impose one account per person.
If GPT remains stagnant, I plan to use this myself. I could replace my current pair of subscriptions with one annual account and one monthly account, or two annuals. The annual plan costs $200 upfront, saving $40 against twelve monthly payments. Keeping the second account monthly leaves me free to switch when another platform pulls through; it’s a question of putting all my eggs in the same basket. At the very least, this would artificially create in-between tiers.
