U2725QE does have its share of infamy amongst Thunderbolt laptop users, but none of them were particularly software related as far as I’ve heard so far. This issue, however, is entirely software. I really hope Dell would push a firmware update soon enough to address this issue. As such as it is, the purpose of this post is to share my findings as documentations and perhaps provide band-aid solution until the official fix is released.

Have you checked the price on the computer monitors recently? Mine is slowly burning away from each corner, so I decided good $300 budget would do – how naive summer child I was. The OLED monitors for 27-32 inches are roughly $1k, I get half (technically a quarter) of screen real estate. My last TV, the one I had replaced just few months ago, lasted well over a decade. It was a 3DTV, (the one with the 3D glasses) but as far as the screen goes as a generic television, its panel wasn’t damaged even as I was planning to have it upgraded. CE Ultrawide, Aspect Ratios and Photography
What is the aspect ratio of your display? Was it ever the core concern behind a purchasing decision? I am aware of this rave behind the ultrawide displays, canonically “21:9”, but mathematically “64:27”, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. It only became a concern not because I was in the shop for new TVs or monitors, but because I was updating featured images on the website. (side note: all featured images on Mad Tea Party are now adjusted to either 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio.)
