App to Convert PC Xbox App Saves for Different Platforms

I’m on the process of writing a similar themed op-ed that highlights the exact issue I am having with the Xbox App. One would imagine save files on all PC games would be platform-agnostic, so long as the platform in question has a Windows presence. That is simply not the case with the Xbox app for PC. Xbox uses its unique save file structure, possibly for cloud support.

PC Gamepass Save File Converter is a freely available, open source, convertor program designed to tackle this exact problem. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee it will always work flawlessly; even on the GitHub page, it links to a YouTube video where few manual works had to be done after the conversion. But it is as close as it can get with games that have NG+ or each playthrough would be unique to its own.

I’m not entirely sure why Microsoft opted to use this strange system. Again, my best guess is it was an attempt to create a save file system that is not only designed for cloud environment, but cross-platform between the Xbox consoles and PC. Though, personally, I would have preferred it if Microsoft would have released all the related documentations for prodding. After all, that was the company’s strong suit.
