How to Add macOS 26 Tahoe Spotlight App Views on Logi+ Options
With the launch of macOS 26, one would hope most, if not all, apps are prepared for the actual release. Every tech media I could think of has been covering macOS 26 betas endless since its initial release, and the public beta was available for the users to test out the waters. Unfortunately, and as adamantly as Apple has been pushing against, there is no clear incentives for the developers to support the apps, so long as it had worked at the time of the customers’ purchase. No doubt most Mac users had been burned before from apps that cannot ship out compatibility upgrades.
Logitech’s Logi+ Options is one of those apps that has been updated. The Launchpad from the previous versions of macOS has now been replaced to Spotlight app library like feature; so any buttons or gestures assigned to Launchpad no longer works. One way Apple has documented thoroughly is to bring up Spotlight and choose the category from the window, but if you want to create an action that brings up the “app library” view, it can be done.
- From Logi+ Options, select the button, the gesture, or the smart action you wish to use as the trigger the app library.
- In the list of possible actions it can perform, choose “Open application”, then choose the “Apps” app in the Applications folder.
- Logi+ Options will identify the path as
/System/Applications/Apps.app
.
In short, the new Apps app is the replacement for the Launchpad app previous macOS carried. It is, however, still a Spotlight with the list of apps attached in alphabetical order. If you are in need of proper Launchpad like experience, you could try one of the replacement apps I covered. The other thing to note, though I’m not entirely sure how it came to be, the new Apps view on the Spotlight is significantly faster than the traditional Spotlight search. I used Launchpad on older macOS was because it was faster to search for app on Launchpad than it was on the Spotlight; I believe now the Spotlight’s App view is on the same level. I highly recommend giving it a go, if that was your routine.
