I’ve seen this question thousands of times. Korean authorities issue too many alerts, and many of them do not require immediate attentions. Amber alert, one which I would prefer to keep on, is quite meaningless in South Korea, as the alert reaches well past the city limit. Just few days ago, I received an Amber alert (technically equivalent of Silver alert in the United States) looking for a missing senior in next town over, about 15 km away. And during that evening, I received two more alerts looking for elders in Seoul.

My Korean phone number is quite old. The number is as old as it could get, as South Korea began numbering 010 for all mobile numbers. Same goes with my American, still alive, number. I don’t think the American numbering scheme is easily accessible, but some websites do decline my number over it being an internet-based — Korean counterpart would start with 070.
